Hi guys. I am training for XC right know. Beign a Euro runner, my season start in january and it will finish in march. In order to gain leg strength, I have been doing religiously a weekly hill workout since november.
That session is my main speed workout. I usually do some 200 and 400 m rep (between 8 and 10) @mile / 3k effort with 2 min recovery. Last week I did 6*400 m @3k effort and 4*200 m @800 /1500 m effort.I was wondering if adding some flat interval between 3 and 5 k pace would help to improve speed endurance?
I was thinking on doing stuff like : 6 *400 m hill then 6*400 m @ 5k pace with 35 sec recovery or 5*400 m @3 k pace with 50 sec recovery.
I don't want to add a pure VO2MAX workout know because I want to reach my peak shape later in the winter. Morever, I have already a busy training schedule. I run 95 k per week with 1500 m of climing. Besides my hill workout, my other important weekly training are : a plyometric session, a threshold session and an easy long run or a race on the week end.
