Austin XC event? Why is there almost zero information or promotion?

No idea what you are talking about.

Not surprised. There is a "professional" team XC race in Austin TX on Dec 1. An IAAF Gold level event that has prize money.

Dunno why there has been so little promotion. Excited to see OAC. Also excited to see the TaylorMade elite group as a pro squad for the first time.

Go on Instagram, it has been promoted there for months non-stop.

It's been on social media nonstop for weeks, at least, and the Coffee Club guys have been talking about it (and talking some good-natured smack) for at least a couple months. And you must be up on social media if you're here.

It's sad that sound running is the best we have in the US. Much worse for meet organization/promotion and athlete assistance than any reasonably sized meet in Europe

I'm rather indifferent to Sound Running, but they have promoted this ad nauseum on social media for MONTHS. And they have the clubs/athletes promoting this as well.

I can't speak to the athlete assistance they are offering, but there are some really big names in this event, especially for a seemingly rando XC race on a weekday in December.

And why is it on a Thursday? I live about an hour away but I have to work on Thursday. If it were over the weekend I would be there in attendance.

1- Why only promote on social media - lnot everyone is on social media

2- Yea I always wondered about the Thurs thing too. Could it be they are thinking with all the NXN, RastLane, Champs West and you add in college football it would get lost but that they would have a bigger on line audience with a mid week race?

Social media is fine but only reaches those tuned into that channel. Not exactly advertising as those folks likely would know anyway. How about promoting on other channel and avenues to maybe help increase awareness of the sport. I get weekly emails from several running groups in town. Those emails should have been promoting this weeks, they were not.

I am a fan of the sport and knew enough about it to find it but a less enthusiastic fan would never even know it occurred.

Social media marketing is largely free. Their target audience is on social media. If you scroll to the bottom of their homepage, you'll see a place to enter your email address.

Again, I am indifferent to Sound Running, but I don't get the hate. They are putting on very good events that didn't exist several years ago. These events are focused on the athletes. They put on an excellent 10k where there is a serious lack of opportunities in this country.

Find something else to complain about?

Sound is definitely filling a void that USATF fails to fill. Guess Max is too busy finding ways to spend his big money instead of creating interesting competition opportunities for US elite and sub elites

Sound Running is doing an amazing job. They are creating races that weren't there before. This has been promoted for months and they can't control if run clubs promote the race or not.

Most likely on a Thursday because TRE (The Running Event) is in town and a lot of things are incorporating that.

I do not use social media. I have never heard of this. I am on letsrun every day.

Agree, I live in Austin and can't find any details about attending in person. I'm guessing they're targeting The Running Event attendees and don't care about the locals. Can I park at the private school? Are tickets required? Some basic info would be helpful when trying to attend an event on a private school campus.

It seems like the date is tied to having a large amount of industry brand/running specialty folks in town for the Running Event. I’m not sure whether that’s about driving spectatorship (although with how few fans our sport has, having a high likelihood of attracting a large percentage of a high concentration of diehards may be a better play than trying to attract casuals) or whether it’s about showcasing Sound Running events for decision-makers who are potential sponsors.

Any update? Cause I'm planning on attending in person too. They do show spectator zones on the course map so presumably we can just go ...
