Today was a good match, even drawing 0-0. It was a decent result against England and keeps us alive to go on.
Some of the best games I've ever seen have been 0-0. It isn't devastating in the least.
I was happy with the tie today as well. More important to get the win against Iran to move on in a couple of days. Did you know that we actually have a winning record against England all time in World Cup matches? One win and two draws with zero losses.
In the group stage of tournament play the end position matters, not the individual games. At least not beyond what they do for the final results. I don't care what our record is as long as we are top 2 in the group. Once you get out then matches that end in a draw go to penalties.
Make no mistake, even with the PKs the official result of the match is a draw. The 2006 WC final was a 1-1 draw that was subsequently won on penalties.
It is ok if you aren't smart enough to understand that.
I've played in and coached in A LOT of boring 0-0 ties where neither team could really generate even a chance and the game was completely locked down in the middle third of the pitch.
The USA v England game was not one of those games. Was it unbelievably exciting? No but it was far from boring.
Here's what we have for Tuesday in the group.. .every team is still alive.
There's still a chance both the US and England could go home (Although to be fair the chances of England going home are very very very slim..Like Wales would have to beat them 6-0 slim).

That's the whole problem! This round-robin stuff is a waste of everyone's time to eliminate the weak qualifiers who don't belong. It's like a preseason.
Eight teams, single elimination, three days. BAM! Nonstop excitement and none of this 0-0 stuff.

......
Yeah, you mean like Saudi Arabia vs Argentina?.... A complete waste of time

How many games did you have to watch until a good one happened?
Be honest with yourself before trying to snark out of it! These games are nearly all boring AF and nearly meaningless. They are all playing for draw in the expectation that the worst teams will rack up L's. Only thing really at stake is who plays who in the elimination rounds.
