Can anyone give me the scoop on the courses for these two races, which I believe are being held 1/29/06 and 2/19/06 respectively. I know the 3M half is the better, deeper race, but I can't travel that weekend due to scheduling conflicts. I know that course is blistering fast. If the half run in conjunction with the marathon is on the same or similar course, I may try to run it instead.

I have run both 3 times or more. It depends on what your looking for. The 1/2 is faster.....regardless of the drop and elevations the 1/2 is faster than 3m. You'll have plenty of 1:05-1:10 marathon runners in that pace so you will have many to run with. Being in approximatly the same shape my times are 1:08 to 1:09.....everytime I've ran them so I would go with the 1/2 over 3m
Just don't come on here telling us how fast you ran. Because regardless of how well you ran, how fast you ran, how hard you trained, some old has been never was will tell you that YOU can't count it as a PR because THEY didn't like the fact that it was downhill!!
BTW, IMHO both races are a blast, great RDs, well organized events. Either one will do you well.

You can count it as a PR. Just don't count it as a PR for a half-marathon.

Damn that didn't take half as long as I expected.
thanks for the input, think I'll do the one in February then, I like the extra 3 weeks or so to train, its tough to get much done where I live in January besides just put in the miles.
3m is sooo fast, you should do both and let us know which was faster.

I'm going to the 3M, ran it a few years ago and it was a great course. FAST!!!!!
The new marathon course changes the half quite a bit this year. The half now loses only about 180' in elevation from start to finish. I'd say #M is much faster now.
