I'm way over on the left on most issues but this "gender identity" movement or recognition of is getting over the top. I think every one should be able to run and race. If the non binary want to recognize each other, or recognize nothing, their "community" can set up there own race, get sponsors etc. Maybe going forward the NYRR and other can simply state on the sign up, "We honor and recognize the diversity of our culture however [fill in the blank] and ease their way out of paying the money and controversy of the n.b.
PS I was in the Marines and I don't think identifying as non binary would go over well with the DI's.
It appears Rojo as if you are essentially saying that gender identity (which you compare to religion) is potentially complete bullsh1t. Now I understand your position. In other words, you could essentially be an atheist on the subject, and just assume that these folks are living in a world of make believe, which could be classified as a mental illness. Please tell Mara Yamauchi that this LRC poster is a big fan of her activism in defense of female-only sports and fairness for women and girls in sport generally. She is really smart, knowledgable and makes her points very well. She did a television interview with Andrew Doyle that was brilliant, as the British would say. Brava, Mara.

One of my rare agreements with Rojo
Sport categories, especially athletics, is based on your biological sex. Otherwise do away with categories entirely. There is no equality here, it is a case of demanding more for less.
2022 is the 50th anniversary of when the NYC Marathon ended its sexist policy of barring women and finally allowed female runners to participate. So it seems more than a tad ironic that the way NYC Marathon officials have decided to mark this important anniversary is to come up with a brand new way to give a group of mediocre and midpack male runners a leg up over everyone else, to show blatant favoritism to males over females, and to give men preferential treatment by awarding them with medals and prize money for unexceptional finishing times. Solely because of the way these men claim to perceive themselves. The whole thing is a crock, and it's sexist as hell.
People can choose to enter the non-binary category if that is how they identify. Who is being discriminated against?
This is where I'm at. If NYRR wants to put on a race and have that category, and people who identify that way want to race in that category, more power too them. I fail to see who is being discriminated against?

You cozy up to Rojo at your peril. You may be bed partners here but you appear to hate men and Rojo doesn’t really share your obsession with protecting the rights of women. That is not really what makes him passionate about this.
