Hmmmm...Where and why..?
Hmmmm...Where and why..?
Peterborough
Why ?
Nakina ,Ontario. The bird size mosquitos provide nutrition on your long runs if you forget to bring a powerbar.
Little Current, Ontario
Vancouver and Victoria
depends what distance... long stuff, the champions come from everywhere, hell bairu came from SASKATCHEWAN.... he's like one of four people who run in that entire province...him, the neffs and the tighe brothers. so they have a 125% success rate there. but it's saskatchewan and no one would ever want to go there. Bc's had some great runners and more importantly clubs to train with. The GTA is the place to be for middle distance running, you hook up birchmount and pickering and you pretty much got the middle distances covered at ofsaa and nats. and then there is some good shit coming outa quebec but they're french.

I think Windsor, Ottawa, Guelph, London, and others in Ontario might have something to say about that.
Talking about running towns...facilties..good groups to train with..trails..Vancouver would be excellent..how about Calgary..?
I don't know what is in London's drinking water, but there seems to be a higher percentage of fast runners/triathletes/duathletes from London, than any other Canadian city.
Calgary is a good place to live and train. You are at a moderate altitude, some gorgeous places to train and the Olympic oval is good for winter training. The downside is that winters can be long, cold and dark.
Edmonton is also nice, has some good trails and some great outdoor tracks along with 2 indoor tracks. Again, the winters can be tough.
they might, but it wouldn't matter.
windsor, the only problem being is they charge too much to use the facilities, too much for young athletes anyways...trails could be more plentiful also
Do certain provinces stay darker then others or is just the further north you go the darker it is..?

Federal 'equivalization' laws require darkness to be transferred from Quebec to 'less important' provinces such as Saskatchewan. By federal statute, the latter province must maintain 1:25 more darkness throughout the year than La Belle Provence.
Alberta, with their recent gains in economic power, is on the verge of transfering 0:45 of darkness to the Maritimes and Newfoundland and Labrador. BC, spending too much time smoking BC Bud, is going to be on the hook for 0:25 from Ontario, further excaberating seperatist feelings on the left coast.
Geography, the tilt of the earth and northern lattitudes of various provinces has no impact whatsoever on darkness during the winter months.
The problem with Calgary is that there is a life sucking albino energy force known as the Marcottian-Effect. When you stumble upon it, it transforms you into a lycra wearing tri-geek nancy boy. It can be very humbling. The whole city has been effected.
What about Vancouver..?
easy - Vancouver, BC
For major events Edmonton is the best eg 2001 World Championships, 2005 World Masters games, Universiade,
Commonwealth Games. Great Track facilities, nice trail system -Lots of great trails east of the city-Cooking Lake
Reserve Great comminity support for major events. Cold winters. Nicest to train or live Kelowna or Victoria.
Favorite place- Nelson BC.
ottawa just got a 400m indoor track! plus they have the Gatineau hills to train in and the canal...i'd say its pretty good
