I also stopped Trick or Treating after 5th grade, so in six grade at like 12, l wasn't Trick or Treating anymore because all my friends were hanging out.

Cmon, isn't one of the greatest games of youth when you and your parents had the stand-off where you already knew Santa and the Tooth Fairy weren't real, but you both pretended for another year or two. Few bucks in your pocket and a few extra presents at x-mas.
The Easter Bunny is real though.

Trick or treating - after 6th grade
Trick or treating - seems to stop after elementary school here (7th grade).
Tooth fairy - maybe stop around 7 years old.
Santa - similar to tooth fairy.

If a teenager is Trick or Treating, then they are not doing other things, which could be worse. Perhaps we should encourage all teenagers to Trick or Treat.
I don't mind the teens trick or treating. But my policy "no costume, no candy!!!"

Wet blanket alert! Trick or treating reaches its zenith in 6th-8th grade! Being out at night with buds is pretty novel in middle school. They are excited about costume picking. Its all good. I would like them to stop maybe by 9th, because now they are just out for trouble.
Kids will figure it out themselves so just let them.
If they want to go trick or treating to pick up some free candy, why not? What’s the harm?
If they want to feign believing in the tooth fairy to pick up some extra pocket money, so what?
They’ll give up Santa Claus before the tooth fairy and trick or treating.
Kids are a lot smarter than they’re sometimes given credit for. They don’t need to be told everything. Too many parents try to guide every aspect of their kids’ lives. Some things just aren’t important.

Speaking from my own (male) experience, sometime around age 11 a boy will naturally transition from wanting to trick or treat to wanting to watch bad horror movies like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake so he can drool over a young Jessica Biel.
My son is 11 and was pretty ambivalent about trick or treating this year. He still went and had fun, but it was nothing like it was when he was younger. I see no reason to make him stop and do not care if high school kids come to my door to trick or treat. We make kids grow up pretty fast in this world with school shooter drills, social media and college test prep starting shortly after birth. I see no harm in giving them a chance to be a little kid again every once in a while.
Let it ride. Especially if you have younger siblings in the house. My son new from the time he was six but didn't want to spoil it for his younger sister. If you really want to tell them a horror story then tell them the story about how the orangeman tried to steal the election.
No tooth fairly for permanent teeth. Other than that, if the kid plays along, they should get the goodies. I think going to extreme measures to keep the myth alive by tricking your kids is stupid, but come on, let people have fun!
