Like they're making fun of those of us who take it seriously. "See, I got the same medal that Tommy Try-Hard got! Ha ha ha!!!!"

It's a tradition, they've been doing it in the Olympics for as long as I can remember. It's from back in the day when they would bite gold coins to make sure they are gold or something like that.

I know that. And the obese walkers who do it are mocking the Olympians. "See what a joke this sport is? I just got a medal for finishing the tiddlywinks 5k and I'm biting my medal just like the guys who actually take this seriously!!!"
No they aren't mocking they are doing it for likes.
“I also chastise my son for pointing to the outfield with his bat when playing in our backyard because it’s disrespectful to Babe!!”
Not good for the teeth either.

Finisher medals do not have a single redeeming value. Not one. They contribute to waste and clutter. They make entry fees higher. They negatively impact dental health. They insult the sport. They feed people's egos. They water down the sport.
8 downvotes so far = 8 people who bite their finisher medals.
Seriously is this even a real thing people do?I don't even bother taking the pointless medal after the race.
