BACKGROUND
I've returned to training after a year of serious injuries and surgery. My 800m endurance is shot so I'm working my way back. I move into the M75 age group in November, but my next serious races won't be until March. I'll be racing the 400 and 800m.
What do you think of the following workout? It would be one of three quality interval workouts per week for the next few months. Yes, I know that very few people do three interval workouts per week, but it has worked for me for years.
10-12 x 100m @ goal 800m pace. Recovery would be 30 seconds or until HR drops to 110bpm, whichever is the longest time. Once I could handle that workout, I would move to 2 sets of 6x150m @ goal 800m pace w/recovery to HR 110 or 115.
Thoughts.
