The athlete from Muleño Mohamed Katir won yesterday in the XXVII Costa de Ajo popular race, a test held in the Cantabrian town of Bareyo. Katir ran the 6.2 kilometers of the race in 18:26 and beat Jesús Gómez from Burgos, with 18:37, and who on Saturday afternoon had won the Zamora mile, in which the man from Muleño also participated, being third. In the Cantabrian test the third was Pablo Sánchez, with 18:38. There was not as much level as in Zamora, but yesterday's event in Bareyo was also very interesting.
The double world and European medalist had a magnificent race and dominated from start to finish. Despite the strong prevailing wind, Mo Katir printed a hellish pace, which allowed him to reach the finish line alone, greeting the hundreds of fans present in that ground zero of the circuit. The athlete from Mula was the big favorite and he did not disappoint.
Katir is already thinking about the challenges of next year, but he takes advantage of this final stretch of the season to participate in races with a certain prestige in Spain and take a dip in the crowds in the places he visits. "At the level of medals, this year has been better than the previous one and I hope that next year I will find myself at this level and try to improve the marks I have," the man from Muleño confessed a few days ago.
