Given that there are so many elite non-White runners, why aren't there more People of Color who dominate triathlon? Especially since running is one of the longer components of triathlon races.

Swimming is the least important/impactful of the 3 triathlon disciplines. If you are good on the Bike and Run you can make up for being a weaker Swimmer.

Pretty much anyone who is good at swimming or running can be a somewhat competent biker. Lots of people don't have the body to run fast. And few people who didn't swim competively as a kid ever get remotely good enough swim technique.
Because people of color know it's not good taste to be parading around on a $20,000 bike in front of the locals and closing hundreds of miles of roads for two whole days and not tipping the waitresses very well even though you have your trophy wife with you and living in a $2000 a night luxury hotel room.

The same reason why ultramarathons are also predominately white - because POC are too busy dominating sports that people actually care about. Why would they choose a second-rate, JV league sport with no money in it when they can dominate real sports like track and road racing instead.

There is no way anyone can be dumb enough to read what I wrote and think I said Phelps would be a good triathlete. That would be as stupid as saying kipchoge is going to win the ironman cause he is the best runner.
