Obviously it would've been cool if he broke 2, but this race was just something special - probably the closest we'll ever see someone get to breaking 2 hours in an actual race for a decade or more.
Kipchoge got half of what he wanted in Berlin.
Yes - He put a buffer between his time and Bekele's time.
No - He did not go sub-2 in a non-fabricated race.
Because he didn't accomplish 2, he'll keep trying at either at London or Berlin, win the Olympics, try more, then MAYBE run Boston and NYC to win all the WMMs. That was HIS statement, not mine, to win all the WMMs.
I don't believe he will win, though, by the time he gets around to it, because of this obsession he has with sub-2, and the fact that Boston will knock him around, and NY is crazy.
I do believe that someone will beat him to a legit sub-2 before he gets it done.
Kinda disappointed our Canadian friend hasn't chimed in with a thread saying he was so excited about Kipchoge's record along with being in close age proximity to Eliud that this was the motivating factor to send him on the path to start training for a sub-3:07 'Thon.

Yeah, but can Kipchoge write a junior-high level screenplay?
