On September 19, 2022, Hans Moke Niemann faced Magnus Carlsen in a game of online Rapid in the Julius Baer Generation Cup on Chess24. This is a video about w...
Interesting development, I've been following this story the last couple weeks. I hope Magnus really does have some info, because between refusing to defend his WC, and these episodes with Hans, he risks alienating his fanbase without substantial proof.
He probably resigned because his competitor was wearing super shoes.
Well players have been accused of wearing shoes with sensors that tell them what move to make.
True, but then again Hans played a solid game today squarely routing Levon Aronian in 21 moves. Hans moving his bishop back one step from d3 to e2 early on was strange coz it looks like throwing away a turn with no obvious advantage, but he won anyway and it was never clear how that move was helpful or necessary.

Don't put your bishop so near the front line. Those guys are sissies, all they do is pray at the enemy.

Neimann is an acknowledged cheater. I don't see how Carlson would alienate anyone.

because he hasnt said anything. If he thinks Neimann is cheating, he should say so and say why.
If you have ever cheated in competition no matter what your age or how long ago, then you no longer deserve to be trusted. He cheated and Magnus doesn't have to explain anything beyond that.

Literally everybody has cheated at something in their life.
I’m not even asking Carlsen to provide hard evidence, but he’s too chicken sh!t to even explicitly accuse the other guy. Be a man and say what you mean.

One more curious thing I learnt is that Magnus had no apparent reason (like a tournament code of conduct or something) to resign after playing one move as opposed to resigning after zero moves.
I can’t imagine anything in the way of evidence he would produce on Monday, so when he speaks then, it’s going to just be more of indirect accusation without saying “I believe Hans cheated at Sinquefield” in order to avoid slander repercussions.
