She is a good kid. I've just been struggling constantly since 7th grade with her not giving a full effort in school. She continues to have missing work each and every year. And the excuse is always that they give too much work and it's too stressful.
I've tried everything. I'm very caring and let her know that I understand what she is dealing with. I have tried micromanaging everything when she gets home. I've also done the complete opposite and let her figure it out on her own. Nothing works more than a few weeks before she has more missing work or throws out more excuses. Trust me, I've also reviewed her workload. Sure, sometimes there is a decent amount of work. However, it's mostly an excuse to deflect from not working harder. She has plenty of time to mess around having fun doing a lot of other things.
I'm a bit lost. Is it just the reality that some kids are like this and nothing will change? At this rate, she won't be getting into much more than a community college. Curious if anyone has had the same issue?
