My feet have become more fickle over the years. My right foot is a little wide in the forefoot. I used to be able to wear anything. As an example I wore Nike Flyknit Racer for my first marathon with no issues and I didn't run in them until race day. Wore the unbearably narrow adios 3. Other than me not liking them on race day, it wasn't the narrowness that bothered me. It was the heel counter. Now my right foot needs massive space or I start to get soreness/numbness if my big toe can't flex and breathe. I tried the vaporfly and next % and they won't do. I tried the Skechers speed elite and they don't have any give in upper to provide the flexibility my toes need to plantarflex. I just got the Asics Metaspeed Sky because nearly every review recommends them for white feet. WRONG! They are not wide. They're sorta normal. The stiff overlay on the toe box combined with the synthetic vamp gives zero stretching. I'm stuck. Really stuck. I've heard the brooks hyperion might work. But here's the deal. I just dropped $270 on these shoes. I don't have another $270 to drop on shoes while I wait for a refund. The Asics already took 11 days to get to me with 2 day shipping (7 days processing). I've raced my last 3 marathons in the zoom fly flyknit because they have the width and stretch. They're getting very hard to come by and now I can't find an unused pair.
