How will Conner Mantz' legs respond in New Haven?

Mantz won’t win and will come up with some lame excuse like always

I don’t understand the hate for this kid. He’s crushing 25 mile long runs right now, and I would expect his legs to be tired. Actually, I’m not sure why he’s even running it. However, I root for the guy. Seems chill, has a great work ethic, leaves it all out there.

He likes paychecks?

I think Mantz will definitely be in contention, likely finish first or second. He lost to Kipchirchir at the NYC Half and Crazy 8s, but has finished ahead of Chelanga, Montanez, and Korir at last year's USATF half plus Chelanga and Simbassa at the NYC Half and Korir and Chelanga at Crazy 8s. Ben True, Galen Rupp, and Kipchirchir are the only Americans I think Mantz would have trouble beating at a half.

Mantz races more than anyone these days, and gets ripped for it? I'm a fan.

Still, though, Bill Rodgers raced 30 times in 1978.

It's still a bit warm here, and although the humidity is dropping it might be moist...so it depends on how good he is in the heat. I don' think he'll win but don't know why we are even wondering.

The NHRR is really a great race that every runner in the area should try to do.

Isn't he training to defend his NCAA cross--country championship? I htought he was going for the three-peat.

I hope that Mantz does well and even better when he runs the marathon a little bit later.

I think he'll win, no way he's more than 10 seconds off of the win. Only way he loses is if he can't muster a kick, but no way anyone is running away from him before the last half mile. His roughly 28 flat at Peach tree was very very good, fast Americans on that course often run 28:30's, no one is running well under 28 flat on that course unless Fisher showed up for a road race. I don't think any of the current American road races are beating Mantz except in one off situations. He showed everyone he's legit in December at the half championships taking care of business in a sub 61 for the win.
