    Mexico City marathon August 28, 2022.

    This has to be one of the best high altitude marathon times.

    1. Kiptoo 2:10:48 (59:26, 2:06:52)

    2. Kiplagat 2:12:38 (2:09:41)

    3. Kilimo 2:13:44 (27:57/km, 1:00:49)

    The two Ethiopian runners in sixth and seventh positions have best marathon times of 2:05:41 and 2:04:52, both achieved in Dubai, in 2012 and 2013. Negesse, the Ethiopian who finished seventh in this race in 2:17:23, is an interesting case having shown great progress from 1:03:32 in 2012 to 2:04:52 in 2013.

    I used the https://www.finalsurge.com/altitude-conversion-calculator
    for a 2:10:48 and used a minimum of 7,200 feet altitude (2194.56 meters)
    this converts to a 02:01:08.61.

    He is now the new World Record Holder in my eyes.
    I don't care.

    Your theory is very interesting but I don’t know if it is provable in scientific terms? When I saw his time in Mexico City yesterday I immediately thought this run is worth at least 2:07:00, actuality it is probably worth 2:04:00 -2:05:00.
