Yared Nuguse wins in Lucerne, destroys Hocker in the process

In terms of SB, he fits in at the tail end of the field. However, in terms of PB, he is 5 seconds slower than the second slowest guy in the field (I am assuming that the Belgian guy with no SB is a rabbit). Very happy that they let him in.

It would have been a good race for Kessler too. Maybe he could actually not get in the race due to his 3:36.63 SB. They let in the 2 Swiss guys because this race is in Switzerland. They let in Laros because he has a shot at European U18 record. I am thinking that the Kenyan guy is also a rabbit. The next slowest guy is Coscoran who has run 3:36.36 this year.

Also Charlie Hunter and Elliot Giles who both have SB/PB’s of sub 3:35. This is a pretty stacked filed for a non Diamond league race so hope we can see some quick times.

This works out great for Laros, because the field will surely not go slower than 3:35-36, so he'll have plenty of people to draft off of to get his pr well down. Even at the slow end of that range, he'd have a shot at dropping his pr by 6-7 seconds, which that 800m indicates he can do. As for the rest, Hocker's a late kicker and not in shape yet to push the pace, and so is Rozmys. It could be a 3:32 race, but I'd be surprising if it is not 3:33-34 for the winner. The guys in this field other than Laros can run pr's, but tough to do without any of the studs who push the pace the whole way.

I believe this is the strongest Lucerne meet ever (by a lot)

100m meet record is 9.85. There are 2 guys on start list who have run that this year.

200m meet record is 19.86. Reynier has run 19.63 this year.

400m meet record is 44.45. Deadmon has a 44.44 PB.

1500m meet record is 3:36.80. Eleven guys on start list have run faster than that this year

110H meet record is 13.02. Crittenden has run 13.00

Even on women side:

1500m meet record is 4:04.8. Eleven women on starting line have run faster than that…

Pretty much all Meet records could be broken this year.

This meet really filled a void this year.

It's a result of there being almost no races after the championship season this year. Because the championship seaons went for so long (basically 9 weeks without any continental tour/DL races), and most conti tour/DL races being before the championships, there are a lot of athetes desperate to race and very few opportunities.

Lausanne meet was a bit dull, maybe Lucerne will be more interesting :)

Looks like they are running it no matter how hard it’s going to rain. As long as there is no thunderstorms, the show will go on. Wind is pretty low at 3mph so it can still be a fast race.
