PhD student here, expected to finish sometime next year (hoping for summer but we'll see). The jobs that will be available to me when I'm done pay anywhere from $90k/year to $200k/year depending on the company and location. Either end of that range is a lot more money than I've ever made in my life. I've dated over the years and recently ended a relatively short term relationship of about 8 months, and it got me thinking that perhaps I would be best off just focusing on finishing school and maximizing my skills right now since I will be so much better off financially in the nearish future. While I think I have decent status as a PhD student, I do not have decent money right now, and I will be more attractive and able to date better women if I'm financially secure/well off.
Does my thinking make sense?
