It seems the poor exchange execution goes all the way down to U20. Luckily South Africa stepped on the line otherwise no medal.
Why is the US so bad at exchanges? The US Men must be the worst at exchanges in the world.

U20 is the training ground for senior competition
You don’t get so bad at exchanges overnight
It takes years of practice to make such bad exchanges.
Wasn't just the exchanges. They were pretty even when the anchor got it. He just got swolled up by the field. You can't get too mad at the u20 team. They obviously aren't our best u20 stars, most are just wide eyed kids trying their best.
Brackins, the anchor for US is (mainly) a long jumper. At least he showed. This is 100% USATF fault. If Erriyon Knighton doesnt want to participate in U-20 WC individual events, why he can't participate in relays at least? This should be mandatory.
As you can see, to build a good 4x100 team take years. Jamaica put almost the same team for years (Bolt, Carter, Frater, Powell, Blake...some of them competed together since 2007). Same with Canada in the 90s (Donovan Bailey, Esmie, Surin, Glenroy Gilbert). Same with Santa Mónica TC,. Same with Canada nowadays (De Grasse, Brown and Brendon Rodney are together since 2015)
