Did Soles burn his kids out already? Herriman beat all these teams at the timp invite and won Woodbridge

...or Utah is full of amazing coaches and amazing teams, some of which outperformed him/them today.
Welcome to the Beehive State.
Fun fact: this is the first state title for AF since 2018
I think Herriman won 4A in 2012
AF’s 5th guy’s name is Chase Pack. Interesting name huh?
Simmons was a solid pickup this summer, and dominated.
Solid 2-5 chase pack behind him, which included a guy with that name.
MV showed up today. Dominated Orem’s squad and very complete 1-5 with a true low stick with Liam. I’d put serious money on them placing top 2 at NXR
I think that if American Fork, Mountain View, and Herriman all race well, I think these 3 teams will all finish very close to each other. Whoever gets third will likely get an at-large.
Mountain View had a sophomore go from a 17:19 5K last year to a 15:48.
And another soph from a 16:13 to a 15:38.
AF had a senior go from 16:14 to a 15:36.
Utah is absolutely loaded with great boy's teams this year. This is the most competitive I've seen it since 2015(preposterously loaded probably 8 top 25 teams that year). 5 teams under 16:00 average for 5K at altitude, another 4 under 16:04.
The real problem this year(as opposed to 2015) is that Colorado is loaded as well. The Southwest may very well have 10 of the top 25 boy's teams in the nation. Hopefully NXN let's 4 in from SW.
The question is…
where is the #1 team in the Southwest gonna be ranked nationally after this week?
Carmel IN is really good but last weekend 2 IN teams almost beat them. Plainfield South IL is very good too.
Northwest has 3 very good teams- Crater, Jesuit OR and Rocky Mountain ID. Eastlake may possibly catch up if their top 5 are all very good
Here are the regions that I do NOT think will get an at-large on the boys side -
Heartland
New York
Northeast
Southeast
South
I think the regions with at-large potential candidates will be-
California
Southwest
Nortwest
Midwest
All of them except California (unless Great Oak catches up to San Clemente which will be very unlikely) will have some type of possibility of 2 at-large bids to be sent.
Midwest NXN candidates - Plainfield south, Carmel, Zionsville and Center Grove. Last 2 almost beat Carmel
Northwest - Jesuit , Crater, Rocky Mountain, and Eastlake (if their 3-5 perform very well)
California - Newbury Park, San Clemente, Granada
Southwest - Mountain View, American Fork, Herriman. Lots of good CO teams, but I can’t comment on how well they stack up with these UT teams
In Colorado it’s still a barn burner for what the best teams are. Seems like all of the top teams are still similar and there are other teams that weren’t on my radar that are coming close to them
Seth Smith from AF made a huge jump at state. He’s #2 on the team but wasn’t even varsity last year
he beat both of his teammates that were varsity for them last year
We are a week from signing day. Have there really been no commitments from Utah runners yet? If not, what is driving the delay? There are certainly are a number of D1 caliber seniors with several top 25 boys.
Daniel Simmons is the top nonsenior here
