For racing? Training? Both?
I don't know about trainers, but for racing either xc or track if you want to, then there's the Hoka Evo XC. It's a spike/flat made by Hoka and it has what you're looking for

Try the Adidas Boston 10. Has a good mix of what you are looking for. After about 20-30 mile break in they are a solid all-around training shoe.

Isn't the Boston 10 more firm heel softer forefoot?
If you like the air bubble the Pegasus kind of does this, the heel feels sift whereas there is a poppy, lumpy air bubble under the toes.
In my experience they have the Lightstrike PRO more towards the front giving it a firmer forefoot. They have the traditional Lightstrike technology more towards the heel. In the current pair I am using I find the heel softer and the forefoot firmer.
They did just release the new Bostons so perhaps they are a little different based on feel.
