Generally speaking, it tends to be true that engineering, physics, math, etc. majors are some of the most rigorous majors in terms of time, difficulty, and so on. In my experience, it was very rare to see student-athletes at D1 schools doing one of these majors. Which D1 schools have the most students majoring in these fields? Does cross country get overrepresented in these majors, compared to other sports?

No. Rice has fewer total students in all majors than what are in tech majors at the schools I listed.

NC State alum here. Below is a link with the number of engineering degrees awarded per year. Georgia Tech is number 1 with around ~3,700 per year. NC State comes in at #7 with ~2,500 per year. Interestingly, by the way, Katelyn Tuohy started out in engineering at NC State, but then switched majors to business within a short time. I've listened to interviews where she said that she liked science and math coming out of high school. But perhaps engineering was just not her thing.
