I hate seeing posts like this, but I have some questions. I'm preparing for my indoor and outdoor track seasons, and I was wondering if anaerobic capacity/tolerance workouts will hurt my 3200m time (I'm in HS). Obviously I don't plan on doing any fast anaerobic training till late outdoor, but I was wondering if speed sessions will hurt my 2mile. Like if I did 200-400m intervals at 400-800m pace, will the benefits of my new speed outweigh the harm done to my lactate threshold? The mile and 2mile are my main races, with the mile being slightly more important than the 2mile, but I also frequently run 800s at smaller meets. I'd like to run 1:55, 4:14, and 9:05 this year.
