It seems like the only time the world record is put under pressure is at world championship events where all athletes are from the same country. Could a shoe company (I'm thinking New Balance) go after the world record with its athletes?
NB has on its roster:
Femke Bol, Sydney McLaughlin, Kendall Ellis, Gabby Thomas, amongst others I'm unaware of.
Nike could probably put together a solid team as well with Stephanie-Ann Mcpherson, Dalilah, Talitha Diggs

I believe colleges have broken world records, the indoor men's 4x400 coming to mind most recently. Not all athletes from same country, just same University

Rule 5.1 refers to a singular Member Federation, not multiple federations. It would appear unlikely that an apparel company with a relay team representing multiple federations would be eligible for world record purposes.

Mboma's fastest time in the 400 is actually sub 49. In any case, Mboma is now banned from the 400.
