Repachage round for sprints and middle distances in Paris 2024

You are wrong, and thankfully you'll be happy when proven wrong. trending this way (it will likely iterate once more to final format in future comps) is better than ambiguous and unpredictable small q time qualifiers that punish athletes for their heat draws and ability for later heats to know their time requirements. in other sports already using repechage, it puts the performance power back in the athlete's hands to win their way in. the extra race is an imbalance of fatigue/effort/risk of injury but well worth it for those that had an issue in their round.

I think this only makes sense for the 800m/1500m. And I question how it makes sense for the 1500m, as the fatigue element is bigger for running an extra round. Why do you need it for the 400m and below? Just run faster! there are no tactical issues in those races. For the 1500m, if you don't have the finishing speed to qualify, it's on you to make the race faster; however, I can see the argument here that repechage is more fair at 1500m.

Snore. Want to guarantee making it to the next round? Run as fast as you possibly can, or make sure you place high enough to advance as a big Q. Pretty simple. Almost all of the top athletes in every single event have had no problems with this, for decades.

The uncertainty about which small qs would advance to the next round was one of the interesting parts of championships competitions. Now that is ruined.
