After their recent run-ins with Sha'Carri Richardson, Erriyon Knighton, Shericka Jackson, Norah Jeruto, Werkhuwa Getachew, and Gudaf Tsegay on top of previous ones with the likes of Caster Semenya and Christian Coleman, they have few friends left.
And in light of their pathetic fanboying around Jakob Ingebrigtsen and going hard to bat for Shelby Houlihan at great effort and expense, whilst suggesting athletes like Elijah Manangoi not dropping the same times now as before their bans is definite proof of doping, makes one wonder if there's a specific pattern to their bias.

So the role of a sports journalist is basically pr. Don't be contentious. The fans don't like it. Got it.
Letsrun has some of the highest journalistic integrity in the business. They ask more than just the softball questions, real journalism. The only mark on their reputation to me is the entertaining of the burrito story instead of calling Shelby out for what she is - a liar, cheat, and fraud.
We don't know if Tsegay didn't appreciate the question. She just couldn't answer. She's Tigrayan and maybe wouldn't mind more attention to what's going on there.

Why should they be ‘friends’ with the athletes? I think they do a decent job of trying to balance access against asking tough questions. That being said, I don’t think the brojos are journalists in the traditional sense. They are running enthusiasts first and they clearly love the sport. Their first goal seems to be to provide access and information so that the sport can be maintained or grown..
1) They are not getting rich from the site. Whatever financial motive you might think they have, money is not the driver of LetsRun.
2) They have their own own opinions and don’t try to hide them. They do a good job of putting that out there while maintaining a reasonable amount of objectivity.
3) They are staunch believers in free speech and aren’t afraid of hurt feelings. They have always been this way and many of the more sensitive visitors can’t handle it because they are not used to hearing viewpoints that they disagree with. This dies not make the brojos right-wingers or purveyors of hate speech. They are frequently the target of vitriol and unfair attacks themselves but bear it in very good humour in furtherance of exploring heterodox ideas.
4) They truly care about track and field and do a lot to promote the sport, even answering questions by email. In witness, I emailed them on Thursday or Friday to ask if they thought that Woody would make it through to the 5K. Within an hour or so, I got a reply from rojo. I can’t think of another sports site like that.
Say what you want about the brojos, but they are not phonies. They do their best to accommodate all kinds of weirdos and a difficult-to-manage message board. I might disagree with them on things, but I always listen. I‘be been coming here for over 20 years and they’ve been remarkably consistent. Say what you want, but this is one of the most unique places on the internet and they do a tremendous job in making information available about the sport. I think their journalistic reputation is just fine.

The running part of what they do is fine. It is the political/social side of the site that is frequently a latrine. Moderation is often inconsistent and inept. However, that isn't necessarily a reflection of their views. But free speech on the internet without rules or restrictions can be an outlet for every kind of poison.
