Come man - of all things, this is the question you ask? You’re better than this.
A bit of an uncomfortable moment in the mixed zone as 200m world champion @sherickajacko is asked whether she questions Florence Griffith-Joyner’s world record in the event. She doesn’t want to go there. pic.twitter.com/tYmvJ2ci3I
I’m new to this MB and I’m baffled by the venom directed towards this website and I suspect that all the Haters here are from the Club of Never Has Been Bums…
I’ve come across the types who yell at refs during their child’s games, claim to know more than anyone else about a sport they have little or no experience in and almost always they are adults now who never were much of an athlete because they lacked the talent and the discipline and it’s a symptom of your unsatisfactory life.
I suggest that you should appreciate and respect the website and the 3 men who cover T&F, XC and running better than any other outfit in America. I love their honesty, knowledge and experience and my love of T&F is enhanced by Let’s Run.
She shut that down like *BAM* New respect for her.
Damn lol, I agree. Mad respect for these classy Jamaican ladies. They really know how to carry themselves. This needs to stay up as a Sherika appreciation thread.

It wasn't a stupid question.Too many in the athletics community are willfully participating in a public delusion.
It takes guts to expose and question the narrative. Good on Jonathan for giving her an opportunity to free herself from the public delusion. Too bad she didn't have the guts.

Nothing wrong with the question BUT remember she was born in 1994, like 6 years after that record was set. Imagine being asked about a record that was set 6 years before you were born and you cannot win by questioning it so she was really smart, a little insolent and sexy as hell in her response.

I don't think it has anything to do with guts. None of the Jamaican ladies seem to whine, complain, play the victim, blame others, or bullsh!t at all. They're undeniable class acts, you have to give them that. They're not playing games, they are competing to win No drama, just results. I respect that.

Not saying the question is wrong, but asking her it may have been. She obviously doesn't want to be that type of person. I think her mindset is to beat it, not question it, it's a loser's mentality. And yes, it was super attractive, ngl.
So let us say Jakob were to run a fairly low 3:26 and Jon asks Jakob about the world record and what does Jakob think about it. Jakob says come again. Jon then says there are questions about the world record and Jakob says what kind of question is that and he says that is not me (questioning it). That question is so rude, says Jakob and he walks away. People might wonder why Jon is asking the question. There is a reason of course but what exactly is the reason? I have a guess…

Yeah, it's possible she took it as him accusing her of doping. And that may have been the reason for her saying, "Well, that's not me. And that question is so rude of you to ask of me" He was going to say why the record was questionable but she cut him off so we(and Shericka herself) didn't get to hear his reasoning so she may not have known what he was implying. Is this what you mean?
I suppose I was going off him saying, "I'm wondering what you think of the current WR, do you believe in that time?" and her being confused like "What kind of question is that supposed to be? Isn't it the WR? So why do you think I need to question the WR."(It's already decided, long ago) And then her saying that's not me. I guess I'm likening it to when people lose games or mma fights and afterwards get asked by media about "Wasn't it so unfair how this happened or that happened?" Some people don't like to blame outside forces and be that type of person but instead own up to their loss or mistakes. The result is over, why be hung up on it. Chael Sonnen was always classy in defeat even when his opponent beat him with something that should have DQ'd them, resulting in his win. But he didn't try to get it overturned or cause a kerfuffle...just accepted it and moved on. He owned his loss, and didn't act like a child. You don't need to cut others down to try to elevate yourself, I took it as she didn't want to be that type of person, to cut others down, and was offended he tried to bait her into it. But I could be wrong.
I guess I assumed, maybe naively, that he was just knocking Flojo and saying she was the real WR holder. Or at least trying to get her to say something along those lines. Causing a controversy, idk. She wasn't about it, I guess.

Fr, there's a BBC interview with Dina where SAFP joined and she was just so sweet and friendly the entire time. Shouting out the whole competition, pleased with silver, lovely to Dina.
