I am training for the Comrades Ultra (89k) and hope to be competitive within the next few years (07-08). My base training program look like the following (based on a 2 week schedule). Sun: 60k Long run
Mon: 10k very easy
Tue: 20k Comfortable
Wed: 20k Comfortable
Thu: 7 x 1500 w 750m jog @ 5k-10k race pace
Fri: 20k Comfortable
Sat: 40k Long run
Sun: 20k comfortable
Mon: 15k Tempo run @ slightly better than MRP
Tue: 20k comfortable
Wed: 20k Comfortable
Thu: 10 x 1000 w 500 jog @ 5k-10k race pace
Fri: 20k comfortable
Sat: 20k comofrtable
If this the right mixture of VO2 Max and glycogen building long runs.
