I’ve hardly watched any track since the second day because at that point it’s not even worth the effort for one or two events a day I want to watch. Make it a 2 day event tops. I think this is an absurd post...however, it feels like they could make the event more like 8-9 days as opposed to 10. The 400m schedule is pretty absurdly spread out and you could probably compress everything down a little bit while still accommodating doubles. Every night should have at least 2 and ideally 3 track finals. Yet, tomorrow has 1 for some reason.

Sorry that you do not like the sport well enough to appreciate the rounds where some good racing occurs. Also, how many fans of a sport want to see LESS of it and not more?
Could they do something like NCAAs? Have the preliminaries a week or two before and then compress the finals over 2/3 days? Personally I'm okay with the setup since I get to watch 10 days of top notch track and field but its awkward for the casual fan/random person tuning in.

Right on. Been this way for as long as i can remember. Plan ahead, save up whatever it takes if you want to have the onsite, live experience which is so much more than just whats going on at the track. Or just watch the replay on youtube. Being here is way more interesting. Example: Kovacs probably broke the WR in the SP twice in warmups. Meanwhile 4 other things are going on at the same time. None to very little of which is shown on tv.

A super elite meet (say top 16) would be interesting but not what the WC(Olympics light) are. I would be curious to see what a 6-7 day event schedule would look like. Or heck make day 7, relay carnival. Time for the DMR, SMR, and 4x800. And you can only use athletes already in the field to keep down costs...
I don't have an issue with spreading it out over a number of days. It's great I get to watch track every night. My gripe would be the time between events. The schedule today is 5 events on the track over about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Even if you want the two field events to have their time in the sun that is still 7 total events over that time period. I say line them up and let them run and move on to the next event. We don't need 40 minutes between the start of the 200m semis to the start of the 1500m.
I count myself as a track fan, but I've been happy enough just watching the highlights on youtube (NBC Sports) for now. Haven't felt the need to watch all the prelims this time around. Haven't even re-signed up for Peacock yet, though it's only $4.99 for a month. Do I really want to watch the first 23 laps of the 10000s? If I had caught it live maybe, but after already seeing the highlights, it doesn't make sense to go back to watch that stuff on Peacock. More interested in the Tour de France at the moment.
Kind of a throwaway post, but I get what you are saying. Not even worried about track's popularity at this point. WA and USATF appear to have no interest in increasing interest, and I can't do anything about that as a LR poster.
