When Air Alert first came out, it wasn't one of those lame marketing schemes used in basketball magazines. It is in those magazines now, because it does in fact do what it claims. It is regarded as the genuine and truly effective of "those ploys". It is a workout program, not a bunch of dipshit devices (god damn ankle weights, parachute vest, weight vests, and the best yet: those stupid assed shoes that make your walk on your toes all the time).
I have personally completed the Air Alert program three times, and dabbled through the first half of it several other times. I did it during base phase, and yes, it makes you very freaking tired for the first 3-4 weeks, because it targets many muscles that athletes, distance runners in particular, will rarely, if ever, use.
My final judgement: I have recommended the program to countless individuals. It WITHOUT A DOUBT helps overall strengthening, flexibility, injury prevention and explosiveness. The program is very demanding, but the author clearly shows some physiology knowledge in that you are to take certain weeks as rest. I don't recommend doing the program only 2-3 times per week, as it was designed with certain goals in mind.
Again, I have highly recommended Air Alert to many people, whose goals and situations were varied. For myself, a naturally speedy runner looking for more strenght and speed, it worked very well. I have also seen it work for a naturally slower runner who was trying to improve his strength.
It's the real deal, and like I said, I've done it several times. Let me know if you have any questions.
