Someone should remeasure the course. Times were too fast to be legit for both men and women.

Tola has run 2:03. -> now 2:05
Gemerew has run 2:02 -> now 2:06
Abdi has run 2:03 -> now 2:06
I highly doubt it is short. They used the best measures in the world. Also, I think to ratify records they have to remeasure after to file the paperwork. That’s how it is in some road races that I know of…so likely the same here.
Times were fast, as the runners had fairly good temps for the marathon for a World Championship, 58.5-60.5 degrees F. Outside of the optimal range, but not too far to push the times way up.
7/10 for getting some serious and rather earnest defenses of the course.

1) What about the course and conditions make you thing these runners couldn't run those times?
2) Keira D'Amato's strava shows 26.38 miles. With GPS readings tending to run 0.5-1.0% long, that matches up exactly where you'd expect for a properly measured 26.2 mile course.
