Ironically on the coffee club podcast Nuguse said he didn't want to make this years team by some weird loophole with only a few people having the standard.
So theres you hating him for exercising his EARNED(Not given) right to fly to Tokyo with the intent of running. Then there is him not wanting to be given a spot that he didn't actually earn. Nuguse is living in your head rent free.
The logistics of giving another american a spot on the world team this year makes so much more sense with the world championships being here as well.
I can definitively say that I would not have done what Nuguse did. He should have at least started the race and jogged. Nuguse is not an olympian and I bet he never will be in his career. He will never get to say that he competed at the olympic games and for what? He came back to the NCAA and did pretty much nothing this year.
