Somewhat off topic-but if Regionals is at VCP, what course are they using? The real deal 10k with multiple hill loops and cemetery or the weak 2k loops they have recently started using for the big meets?

2k loops + freshman hill. No cemetery
Good. Regardless of the difficulty (or lack of) of a Regional course, 90+% of the same people will qualify for the National meet anyway.
In which case, why not pick a Regional course that doesn't mess the region's runners up for Nationals?
Well, this aged like milk.
I guess we will have to see how resilient they are in the face of a lot of adversity
Now that the first few cross country races are done, what are everyone's predictions for HEPS 2022? I think Harvard-Princeton are pretty safely in contention for the silver and gold, but the rest is up for grabs. I have to give Princeton the edge at this point, given that they have beaten Harvard twice now head to head. Also, the 3-5 could go either way, I just feel Cornell is due for a big year. Here's what i'v got:
1) Princeton
2) Harvard
3) Cornell
4) Penn
5) Dartmouth
6) Columbia
7) Yale
8) Brown
That sounds reasonable. I think the top 2 will only change if news broke out if someone major gets injured on either squad. Harvard has a smaller margin of error than Princeton.
Looking at the school schedules, Princeton isn't having any other major race until Heps XC on 10/28 (their next event is Paul Short [looking at the race assignments, this isn't going to be a major factor into Kolas] and then IC4As at VCP on 10/14 [I doubt this is going to be a major factor either, I think it's more training for Nationals' challenging course]). That could hurt Princeton if they underperform at their regional race and finish outside of the top 2 as who knows if they have enough Kolas points to advance. Isn't the Mid-Atlantic Region considered weak compared to the Northeast Region?
Harvard has Nuttycombe (10/14) and IC4As (10/14) on their calendar as their only events between now and HepsXC. A-squad will be at Nuttycombe for the Kolas points. No entries available yet for Nuttycombe to see how competitive it will be, as it usually coincides with PreNats.
Other schools' schedules before HepsXC (10/28)
Cornell - Paul Short, IC4As, John Reif (10/21)
Brown - New England XC (10/8), Rothenberg Run (10/21)
Columbia - Paul Short, Mets XC (10/7), IC4As, Nuttycombe
Dartmouth - Paul Short, New England XC, XC23 at UVA (10/14)
Penn - Paul Short, Panorama Farms at UVA (10/15), Haverford Invite (10/21)
Yale - Paul Short, IC4A, CCSU Mini Meet (10/21)
Any thoughts about the HepsXC women's competition? I know Harvard is the defending team champion, while the defending individual champ Kayley Delay of Yale graduate. Is Harvard that strong to defend their title? Thoughts on individual champ? I know Princeton's Fiona Max was strong last year.
two weeks out and the regular season done, what are people's thoughts? here are mine:
Princeton is the clear favorite again, though I don't think they will win by as large of a margin as they did last year when they put nine guys in the top 15.
Harvard looking for second and acer definitely the favorite for the individual title. I will say though that if their 3-5 struggle they might be more vulnerable than people thought earlier in the season.
Cornell, Yale, and Dartmouth battling for a podium spot. All three teams have looked solid this season. Cornell has impressed me with their 1-4, especially damien and rhys stepping up well in longer distances. Yale didn't seem to run some of their top guys this weekend which was pretty odd to me. cade brown has had one of the craziest improvements in such a short time compared to him running pretty poorly up to this last spring. Dartmouth's lineup has been a little variable so far this season as well.
Penn
Columbia
Brown
Acer, graham Or Monte. Those are the best distance runners. Blanks May be more of a 10 k guy but won HYP over these two. Acer is in good form. Monte is too. Princeton probably wins unless Harvard has a couple of young guys step up.
don't sleep on tberg. the undeniable king of the vcp back hills. he will rise tomorrow.
Mark my words, the top 5 will be as follows: 1. Iverson, 2. Blanks, 3. Monte, 4. Berg, 5. McKinnon

T-15 min for the women's race. Any predictions on who may win the women's title? Maia Ramsden (H) has had as strong season so far (including a top-10 finish at Nuttycombe). I recall Fiona Max (Pr) was a top 3 finisher in this meet last year, but she hasn't been a consistent #1 for Princeton this season. Phoebe Anderson (Columbia) was another strong rookie last year, being the runner up from Outdoor Heps 5k last year. Any other names of note?
