When do we expect to have CIF cross country rankings? Will there be new teams aside from the traditional teams making a run for state? What teams from California and individuals do we expect to see at Nike NXN?

If NXN happens,
Boys:
For teams, Newbury Park and Grenada will get top 2 in the merge. So they should autoqualify. Great Oak will get an at-large. Top 5 individuals on teams that won’t make NXN: Chris Caudillo, Jason Parra, Milo Skapinsky, Sean Morello, and Carter Spralding.
Girls: Buchanan and Great Oak should auto-qualify
Top 5 individuals on teams that won’t make NXN: Sadie Engelhardt, Hanne Thomsen, Lauren Soobrian, Anna McNatt & Olivia Williams
Campalindo and Granite Bay will be 2 candidates for an at-large on the girls side
I just became aware that the Torrey Pines girls team has the 3rd fastest group of 3200 times of returners in the nation.

I suspect that the 2 Dorostkars have an older sister who graduated in 2020 and finished top 10 at NXN.

Granada , is the name of the school.
I like GB and I think they have a good young squad but they are about the 14th best team in CA right now. So they are going to have to leapfrog a bunch of teams to get there. I am sure they will pass a few though.
I listed Campalindo and GB as at large candidates because they got 7th and 8th at the CA state meet in the merge. And they both return all their scorers. They were within 6 points of each other.
Great Oak TT results…
Dublin 2-mile time trial
I expect Buchanan to take the girl's d1 XC title again. Unparalleled depth that got better this year, and is only gonna get better over the next few years with a few of the people that are gonna be joining from Alta Sierra.
Buchanan girls team will win nationals in a few years.
not sure how Newbury Park is gonna ever take them down

Unless they have some serious transfers coming in, NP doesn’t look like much of a threat at all. Several teams should be between them and Buchanan.
Clovis will be a team to watch out for. They will be lead by Chris Caudillo and they return a 9:31 3200 average
Newbury Park boys team is #1 in the nation for the 4th year in a row
Newbury Park girls team won’t do much this year but from their top 7 they return:
-1 sophomore
-1 senior
-2 juniors
They also have:
-another junior who ran in their top 7 at Clovis.
-a 5:20 1600 junior
a 5:23 1600 senior
-a 5:32 1600 junior who also ran varsity for them at CIF-SS Division Prelims (Day 2)
They also have an incoming freshman who ran a 18:52 5K.
What you’ll notice is they will have 2 seniors at the most on varsity so they might possibly do something special next year.
