Granted the sidebar sports have little appeal and money for winners but us entrepreneurs make a living producing these sorts of niche TV shows ;-)
Probably something to do with tv viewing figures. Also if you held it at the end of the season, more athletes will be injured. We've seen that many times in the past. Weather is best in July too.
