. . . her 9:12.10 just a few minutes ago at USATFs broke Jenny Barringer's 9:12.50 from Berlin back in August 2009 following her final year at Colorado.
Counts as the all-seasons/all-conditions collegiate record because the mark was made before August 31 as well as before the start of BYU's 2022-2023 school year.
What uniform she was wearing, or whether she had signed a pro contract, are of no consequence.

I'm sorry but that makes no sense. She signed a pro contract, and raced in a pro kit. Therefore, she's not a collegiate. She's no longer running for BYU. If she hadn't signed a contract it would count towards that.

Wrong.
You tell em
That is also an All-Time, All-Dates Collegiate Best for Courtney Wayment of @BYUTFXC, who already owned the in-season collegiate record. Wayment bettered Jenny Barringer's old all-dates standard of 9:12.50 with her 9:12.10 effort today.

On is a Swiss company, so maybe they're better about it, but generally speaking the college kids that sign contracts coming out of school don't get paid until the fall anyway. And it's not like any sum of money would have an impact on her performance Sunday compared to two weeks prior when she had a BYU jersey.

Right.
The guideline that USATFCCA and the US T&F Statisticians follow allows for all-seasons college records to be set in the summer following the athlete's final season of spring track eligibility, so long as the mark is set before the start of the upcoming collegiate fall season or no later than August 31st, which ever comes first.
Thus, Wayment could reset her own record again at Worlds and/or afterwards in Europe . . . up until 8/31.
She's really put that mark out there, even just considering her 9:16.00 "official" college record. That mark could last for years to come, like Jenny Barringer's "official" and all-seasons college 1500 mark of 3:59.+
I’m just glad someone started a post about one of the greatest college women ever. Obviously not the greatest but one of them. Yet because she was not a “HS Great” she has barely got any recognition for even being the best college runner his year! Amazing all the headlines went to someone else?!?!? Wayment won a Indoor title and outdoor title that set an all time college record that beat the times of some of the best pros today..,,,,,,yet she has been treated like a “second page of the sports newspapers.” The old saying “perception is reality” is total BS!!!! Reality is that Wayment was the best distance runner in college this year, and yet the running world focused on lesser accomplishments and people who were not on her level. I hope she reads this and knows that many really noticed what all her hard work accomplished. Your the NCAA distance runner of the year despite the media headlines! Whatever event you would have chose for outdoors (1500, 5000, 10,000, steeple)……you would have won!!!!
