World rankings are hilariously bad and should not be relied upon for stuff this important.

Sydneys last 3 races in properly set up finals have all been world records yet she is ranked number 2 because bol runs in european races.

He will actually be in the WC. When they add this result he will be on the top 25 for sure.

Also they have recently stated that in the next WC , you will be allowed to get the standar on the road. I think they are late on that but it makes sense

Probably will not be enough. There are already 30 persons qualified by standard( 3 per country) but goal number of participants is 27

Really hope he is eligible AND Athletics Kenya puts him in. He has a heavy-hitter agent so I like the chances of his ranking makes him eligible

One counterpoint: Ethiopia/Kenya have more than their 3 allotment ranked ahead of Kandie and of course he would take 1 slot and ETH gets 3, Kenya gets 2. Kenya has like 9 guys ahead who do not factor in.

The ranking thing is totally annoying. IAAF is all in on it and really pushing it.

I think they are missing the point.

Tennis and golf need a ranking because there are no other ways to compare.

in track, you have the clock, so you don’t need anything else. We don’t need a poor substitute. In all cases, it will be flawed.

What they could have is altitude conversion for the standard. Don’t make it super aggressive, but give something. But stop with this stupid ranking thing.
