Honestly this was a huge blow not just to Hocker but to Oregon, USA men's running, and to some extent America.

A bit of an exaggeration there. There is a WC next year and the Olympics the following year. He is only 20. I'm sure it's a big disappointment for Cole but it's hardly the end of the world.
Whats great about the USA is that we believe in the power of merit. No deserves a spot. Anyone can make it. Hocker gotta own his hubris and failure and move on.
