Only 2 other women have the world standard. Tara Davis technically still competed even if she didn't get a mark. If nobody else gets the world standard, does Tara Davis still make the team?
Only 3 US women have the standard, so I'm pretty sure that Tara Davis is on the team. Either that or US only sends 2.
That’s not the case anymore… Being ranked high in the World Athletics points/ranking system is literally the same as having the standard now. The top 3 finishers in this year’s LJ will be the contingent in Eugene22. Both are comfortably in the top 16, and they will receive the bid from WA/USATF. Davis & Nichols will not be on the team despite both having the standard. The new ranking system sucks, but it is what it is at this point… 🤷🏼♂️

The new rankings system is great. It's basically like a descending order list.
The 3 best jumpers at the Trials are going - that's the way it should be.
This is the only site where people celebrate athletes struggles. But if they quit they are the worst. She has stated that she's struggling with an injury most of the season, only saw her compete once or twice for the entire season. She still chose to show up at nationals and try, what are you doing?

Who is rooting against her? I just posted the facts. She was 6th in the Olympics, just like Hocker, so it's big news when she doesn't qualify.
I can’t believe how many people on here hate so harshly and specifically as if they follow an athlete religiously, then show they know nothing about them. She has been extremely open about her knee injury and on Instagram has posted every step of her recovery even to be able to compete at USAs. She made clear she wasn’t at her best and was just going to compete. What more do y’all want?

Having a slight injury is a good excuse for not jumping a PB, but it is not a good excuse for triple fouling. You were healthy enough to run and jump, just don't step over the board.

I can see how injury would put you off your game in jumps - if you don't have your typical control and awareness of your body, then maybe it manifests as fouling.

Tara is one of the up and coming superstars of our sport. To me, the best thing about her is that she really has fun competing, win or lose. She gets the crowd into the event. She doesn't always win, but when she loses she doesn't make excuses. And she doesn't talk trash. (She's even patient with her haters.)
I didn't support her attempt to crowd fund a trip to Europe, but it's not like she was grifting anybody.
Something you non-jumpers apparently don't get is that when you have 2 fouls in a championship meet, you don't have the luxury of playing it safe, unless you are Jesse Owens or Bob Beamon. Damarcus Simpson tried that in an NCAA Championship meet a couple of years ago and ended up 10th.
