I rarely train in spikes, but sometimes I'll throw them on for some mile-pace reps at the end of a workout to make sure that my calves stay acclimated and to help minimize the shock to my legs when I race (or, more honestly, the effect on my legs the day after racing). Usually when I do leg speed workouts, I take my rest intervals at a slow jog (Jack Daniels-style, 200 fast w 200 jog, etc), but I've been a little scared to try this in the spikes. On one hand, I feel like it could wreck my Achilles or my calves, but on the other hand if I'm running hard in these shoes without injury or extreme soreness, then running very easy shouldn't cause problems, right? For reference, I have a pair of Saucony Endorphin 3s (very much LD, non-super spikes).
Do y'all do jog recoveries in spikes, or am I right to avoid them? For reference, I have a pair of Saucony Endorphin 3s (very much LD, non-super spikes).
