I know to be smart and slow down in hot weather. But if I'm doing a workout at goal MP, can I just adjust it for MP effort, even if I know and am ok with paces being slower?
Goal pace is 7:05, but if I'm only hitting 7:30 due to 90'F heat, but still doing that consistently, can I trust it's still having an effect once September hits and it gets cool? I have a good attitude about heat this year, even though it's hot--it was brutally cold this winter so 90'F heat to me is not as big of a deal to me now. (Although by mid-September I'm struggling mentally).
I.e. for Hansons and some other plans, they want you starting at 5@goal MP (7:05) 18 weeks out and going up to 10@7:05 by September, then a 10-day taper (!).
Or, because it's hot out, just do the MPs at 7:30 pace consistently and trust you'll be fast on race day?!
