Cool new paper showing that a previously little-studied metabolite, Lac-Phe, is strongly induced upon hard exercise (but not low-intensity or weightlifting) in racehorses, mice, and humans.
Exogenous Lac-Phe treatment suppresses appetite post exercise and leads to weight loss when obese mice are put on an exercise regime. Thus, Lac-Phe seems important for exercise-induced weight loss.
