The only celebrity death that evoked a response from me was Norm Macdonald. Norm was a legend. Can still go down a worm hole watching Norm videos on youtube.
Well, Bob Dylan is my spirit animal and I’ve been totally obsessed with his music for nearly half my life, so when he dies I’ll definitely experience some sentimentality and go through a period where I listen to his music even more constantly than I already do. No celebrity’s passing could bring me to tears or anything.
I was sorta bummed when David Bowie died. I get sorta bummed thinking about James Gandolfini’s son finding his dad dead in a hotel bathroom.
Diana Ross, Gladys Knight Of course I don't want to see none of them die, it hurt when Aretha Franklin died and I was mad Al Sharpton and Mike Dyson used their time to bash then President Trump, The speakers at her Funeral should have talked about ARETHA FRANKLIN NOT POLITICS, One of Franklin's most famous songs was RESPECT and Sharpton and Dyson did not give her ant RESPECT at her Funeral. That bothered me, I wonder if her Family, friends or other fans were mad at those speakers like I Was?
Tom Hanks comes to mind.
I watch movies and listen to music very frequently. But I don't think I would feel grief at the passing of any actors or musicians. During my life many popular actors and musicians have died, some too early, some after a long life. It just happens and I'm not invested in their lives.
People dying never worries me too much. If it’s someone else, then phew, it wasn’t me; and if it’s me, then I can’t fee anything anyway.
As I get older, I notice that the death of celebrities who were active when I was younger hits me. Not necessarily because that individual died but because a part of my past died.
I'm probably misquoting a line from Again to Carthage:
Pieces of yourself disappear until there is nothing left.
Not many actors mentioned, if any. I miss Robin Williams.
It's all on You Tube. You'll know them as well on there as you do now.
Not sure why you are disappointed that Micheal Jackson is gone. He was a serial pedophile. Good riddance to that clown.
Easy: Bob Dylan.
Van Morrison
Flagpole and Greg. I know those two, but I don't know anyone famous.
Bobby Weir
When Conor Oberst dies, I’ll be bummed. Of course, the magnitude of that will be based on whether that happens when he’s in his 40s versus his 70s.
I also don’t want Kenan Thompson to ever die.
Why is so much emotion placed on people who act or sing? Its all they do.
Are they in awe of your work?
Will they mourn your passing?
Do they even know you exist?
They sing they act and they die. And tbh most of what they do is garbage that they will never admit to.
I really like the band INXS’s music, and Alex Hutchence’s death left me empty. I felt like INXS still had a lot of music to give the world.
I’ve be a Foo Foghters fan for 20 years, and Taylor Hawkins left really sad. I’ve listened to the Fighters every day, so I feel that his music was a huge part of my life.
Life is short and you can die in any second. Embrace the ones that you love, whether personally or in fandom, and be thankful for everything that you get from them!
Matt Molloy. I’d love to get a chance to hear him play in person and maybe even sit in on a session at his pub one day.
