Yes, it has been on these boards a few times, but let's revisit a few key arguments:
- Weather was bad
- Portland is not a big city
- Portland is hard to get to
The FBK games, not even a DL, had attendance of 15,200 (sold out) in the town of Hengelo. A few points:
- Hengelo has a population of 80,000 - less than half of Eugene
- It was raining and cold for the whole meet
- No airport within an hours drive
- 2 hour train ride to all major Dutch cities
- The fields were strong, but nowhere near DL quality.
Why can't TRACK TOWN HAYWARD MAGIC attract a bigger crowd than a random town in eastern Netherlands offering a less competitive event? What is the USA/Nike/Eugene doing wrong that noone cares? Why must every event be in Eugene when it seems like noone actually cares about the events there? Don't say it's because it's the only place with a stadium big enough, because there are a lot of tracks with a stadium big enough for such a small crowd.
