Iowa runs 3:01.79 with an entire B-Team 4x400. They had none of Wayne Lawrence Jr, Everett Stewart, or Jenoah McKiver (44.8 indoors 2nd to Randolph Ross). All three of them were indoor finalist.

Joey Woody is the best 400 coach in the country.
dutch = central, from the iiac?
Ew, no. The IIAC and all of D3 is a joke. Good guess though.
I don't know if they have a limit in college. But none of those 3 fastest guys were on the relay card, so to speak Mckiver a d Lawrence are out for the rest of the season. Stewart could be, as he was supposed to be in the open 400, but he didn't run it, so I assume he's out.

Or one could say his isn't the best coach because he got his top guys injured.
Their A team indoors was Richard(46.01i 6th indoors '22), Gillums(46.88i made ncaas in 400mh), Lawrence(45.33 from 2019 7th indoors '22), and Mckiver(44.74 2nd indoors '22). Steward ran 45.94pr at west prelims but didn't make ncaas. Jefferson has a 46.28pb, i'd need to find the video replay to confirm but it looks like they ran the west prelims 4x4 with a decathlete, 2 800m runners, and gillum to run 3:03.
I believe you are correct. Austin West led off at the West prelims.
It's simply incredible that they ran 3:01 yesterday. For many years, 3:01 would win NCAAs (including last year I believe). They did it without McKiver and Lawrence for sure, who are by far the two fastest I don't think Steward was on it, but Jefferson (46.4ish open) I think was one of the first two legs. I could be wrong about Steward. I thought he qualified for the 400 getting 2nd in his heat but wasn't running because he was hurt, but could be totally wrong. NCAA uses the stupidest result system that doesn't display who ran each leg. You can find it in TFRRS way after the matter.
With Iowa's full strength 4x400, they would win it and have a decent shot at the collegiate record. Which is crazy, because they have 0 advantage over every single SEC university (except they have a better coach).

I'm curious of the advantage SEC teams have over iowa. Isn't Iowa D1 as well so the only advantage would be weather i guess but if they cant get top recruits thats in coaching

What did their A team run? 2:58 or 2: 59?
You realize they had 3 of the finalist indoors 400? Florida had also had 3. Of those 6 finalist McKiver was easily the fastest. Florida holds the 4x400 collegiate record. Iowa never ran a 4x400 with those 3 outdoors. They ran 3:01 without those 3. They will break the record next year if everyone is healthy. I know it probably hurts that a school called "Iowa" could be this talented, but they are.

I want you to look at every school in the 4x1 and 4x4 finals, and tell me what they have in common. A southern location.
