He should get fired. How is it possible that Oregon ever loses any meet? They get the best and highest paid athletes, they have the top nike "supplements," every big meet is a home meet. Massive underachievers.

They might not want to come back. It seems like being at UW is easier than being in the constant spotlight at Oregon.

thinking about the way that Robert Johnson and Beth Alford Sullivan treated their athletes and wondering what is the point in having a governing body? What is the NCAA's role in the athlete's lives? I would assume that they should have a hand in protecting kids from coaches like these...

Now I know those coaches are massively different, but anyways, I hope oregon gets a coach worth his or her or their (see SUNY-New Paltz, I'm not being PC) salt.

If these rumors are true, I imagine that Oregon has requested a news embargo as they negotiate he terms of Johnson's release/non-tender. The circumstances around how DEXA scans were used and the lack of mental health and ED resources for women athletes could not be ignored. Mutual face saving time for both the university and Johnson. The athletic department may also be finalizing a contract for a new head coach.

I guess I have been out of the loop. Why is there a rumor about Johnson not being the coach at Oregon. He literally one of the best coaches they have ever had. Before him, what had the women's team ever done? How many NCAA titles has he won? How many top 4 finishes? A ton. He has accomplished this in a crappy place to live, with terrible weather.

Maybe the letsrun Robert Johnson will slide in and coach the Ducks for cheaper.

Oregon just swept the Pac-12s & the men won their 15th straight conference championship. They've been a bit down in XC the last few years and the middle distance/distance program is still hit and miss (none of Reed Brown, Aneta Konieczek or Alessia Zarbo advanced from the regionals). They have some rebuilding to do to compete for a podium spot at the national level but overall the program under Johnson is still solid.

Everything that Johnson’s accomplished at Oregon might be irrelevant if one or more of the athletes in that report last year went over the UO administration and filed a complaint with SafeSport. I don’t know if (assuming SafeSport finds him guilty) that means he can’t coach in the NCAA for X number of years, or if even SafeSport has jurisdiction over NCAA coaches.
