Where I work, we have numerous millennials at around 30 years of age who haven't seen any movies that premiered prior to the year 1994. I'm a millennial and we had movie nights growing up where I saw a lot of popular movies from the past.
Because they've spent all their waking hours on Tik Tok.

Also, to the OP: Airheads starring Brendan Fraser, Adam Sandler, and Steve Buscemi came out in 1994, and that's the best movie ever made, so I see no reason to go back any further than that.
Bull crap. If these people are 30 they were born in 1991 or 1992. Unless they were raised Amish or something they definitely watched a lot of movies as kids, and many of those were likely made before 1994. Even in modern times/on streaming services, you would have to go out of your way to avoid being exposed to pre-1994 media.

I’m a millennial and I was going to the movie theater regularly before 1994. I don’t really believe you as almost everyone my age knows movies like Star Wars, Rocky, Top Gun, Ferris Bueller, The Breakfast Club, Princess Bride, Footloose, The Goonies, etc. And I’ve probably watched hundreds of much older movies (Hitchcock films, Casablanca, even super old ones like Charlie Chaplin, Battleship Potemkin, Cabinet of Dr. Caligari).

Fair enough, not saying these people don’t exist and maybe I could see it common among 25-year-olds or non-Americans but I think it would be pretty hard to run into a group of 35-year-olds who have never seen any of those.
There are a lot of good movies in the 90s, especially 1994. The 80s also had a lot of good movies.
I think most Millenials have seen many movies pre-1994, but maybe not the younger Millenials.
They are missing out on a lot of good 80s movies. That said, I’m a young Gen X and I haven’t seen many movies pre 1980 except Star Wars, The Graduate, The Godfather and a few other classics. I understand that these movies are not very relatable to twenty something’s.
Most people like movies but are not well educated in them. If you don't know who Ingmar Bergman and Federico Fellini are, you don't know anything about movies.
It’s hard to relate to movies that age as there are no cell phones. Land lines, pay phones? Answering machines? No computers? Just seems like prehistoric times. Cassette tapes ? What are those?

I’ve always thought that movie was terribly disappointing overall despite the incredible cast. It’s still a decent movie though
