2 THE GILLS!!!
Wait what is this quote?
‘”As her coach, Jerry Schumacher says, “She just might be the best 1500m runner in the world this year, but we will never get the opportunity to find out. And that’s a tragedy.”’
Did something happen to Faith Kipyegon, Laura Muir, Gudaf Tsegay and Sifan Hassan that we don’t know about? How many jumps in performance can one athlete realistically have in Jerry’s estimation?
Imagine having so little regard for your sport and its fans that you continuously lie to them and disparage the people who caught you cheating.
She's put a tremendous amount of resources into trying to reverse her ban, I'll give her that. Too bad about all the nandrolone, though.
Question: does she go with the burrito as her leading theory? Supplements? Something else?
Shelby is clean!
Cool, I look forward to listening to this in its entirety.
Lol... BTC found out how much they love intrasquad time trials now they've decided to go with intrasquad podcasts too
I knew this would inevitably make its way on here so I would like to say a few things.
1) You may disagree or not believe in Shelby, but I sincerely ask you to listen to this episode. You will benefit greatly from hearing Shelby’s vulnerability, heart, and openness in sharing her story. We could be here endlessly debating all the different facts of the case, evidence on both sides, and much more. But that’s not what we’re here to do. All we’re here to do is give Shelby an opportunity to share her heart, give her side of the story in full, and give her the opportunity to answer every misconception about the situation.
2) Shelby has never spoken publicly in a long-form manner since her ban. She speaks on many news things that aren't publically known and addresses all of the misconceptions that you all wrongly speculate on here all the time.
3) Please listen to this with an open mind and not your predisposed mindset. If you want to speak on the podcast AFTER you listen to it, that's fine, but don't assume to know what she said without listening to it.
4) Lastly, Shelby and I both deserve respect. Whether you agree with Shelby or not, these are very sensitive and life-altering subjects. I demand that you show the utmost respect in any comment sections about this episode whether you agree with her or not. Every human being has dignity and should be treated with such.
Well no she is not clean. But she also should not be a scapegoat. She clearly doped and cheated all the naturally talented US runners who tried to compete with her and her teammates at trials and pro events. When you looked at her and her pro colleagues compared to the college kids at the Olympic trials you could literally see the doping. They just looked stronger and more muscular. It was obvious. The college kids had no chance. That is what doping does. Houlihan was not alone. She was just the one who got caught. But look at the post-college progressions of all the other top US women distance pros. I mean, we are not stupid or blind. Everyone one of them had a distinct "Bowerman bounce".
But on the flip side, it is equally clear that every top international distance runner is doping also. Nothing unique in that. It was documented in cycling and cross country skiing. It is obvious in sprinting. But this sport is still in denial and the doping of choice is very hard to catch even with a functioning and non-corrupt antidoping system in place, facts which cannot be assumed. Distance running is not magically exempt. It is dope or go home. Or at least dope or be happy relegated to second class competitice status. I mean there is currently another thread trumpeting how Gidey is going to try to break her own WR. You have to be on drugs if you think Gidey is clean. It is laughable. What is the excuse supposed to be again, the magic East African running gene that makes atheles able to naturally blow away the most dope assisted times in history? That gene has a funny tendency to migrate, from Norway, to Moroco, to Turkey, to China, etc. So I am supposed to get all worked up about Houlihan, who I think is a fraud who cheated more naturally talented athletes out of the accolades they deserve, while we celebrate the international rolling pharmacy? Quite the cunundrum.
All that said, what makes Houlihan offensive is that she continues to try to insult our intelligence. OK. You did what you had to do to win. You professed your alleged innocence during your appeal. Undertandable. But the charade is over. You lost. All dopers profess their innocence against even the most damning evidence. It is part of the game. But enough. Be humble and live with it.
This reminds me of the John Wayne Gacy interview on Netflix, but she does seem a bit more personable.
No time for this. Can I have a executive summary from someone, please?
I am sure she had a shower last week. So yes.
I’m hoping they Jonathan will right an article with the key points in the episode.
Currently an hour into the show and it’s PACKED with info. Seems like she no longer thinks it came from the burrito and more… well worth your time

"openness in sharing her story" - hahahaha
Not until she admits where the nandro really came from.
Good bye, Doper Houlihan!
