How many Twitter followers do I need to be an influencer?

Influencers are on instagram. And I'd say you need millions of followers.

Yea twitter followers dont rlly get you much. I have 54k and dont feel at all influencery compared to people with similar numbers on IG. Though even on IG i feel 100k is the low end of influencers

Really just takes one follower. Just influencing one person can be noble.

I appreciate you are probably looking more for what do people perceive to make someone an influencer but FWIW from an internal perspective at Meta - there used to be a follower threshold whereby having X followers automatically got you a blue tick, I cant remember the number but can probably find out. That model has been decommissioned since maybe 2018/2019 because nowadays the majority of large follower accounts are massively inflated by fake accounts following them, spam bots or paid-for follower farms.

Nowadays it's done on notoriety, ie. how many users search for your name in a given time frame. If that meets the threshold you'll be auto blue ticked, similarly if enough media outlets publish articles about you and we see a rise in imitation accounts, you'll get a blue tick.

I have access to viewing all the people who work at Meta who try and get their friends/contacts a blue tick through direct request internally (users normally have to apply through the app for it first, you would be stunned at how many times some people apply), but some of the flimsy reasons people try requesting blue ticks for their friends are a joke.. one newspaper once covered their sports team, or someone's single TikTok went viral, it's really cringe inducing stuff.
